Comfort A.B. Asare (Mrs.)
President, Ghana Library Association

A Message from GLA President

It gives me great pleasure to send this letter of greetings to all members of our dear Association who have worked effortlessly over the years to maintain the relevance and active levels of the Ghana Library Association.

To my predecessors and past Councillors on whose shoulders I am currently leaning, I salute you all. Had it not being for your vision and hard work, the Ghana Library Association wouldn’t be where it is today. It is indeed a great honour for me today to engage with you all. Indeed the Ghana Library Association is one of the vibrant associations on the continent. This feat can be attributed to the strides that it has made in times past and continue to make in present times.

At the national level, the Association has undertaken several activities to ensure that members are well positioned to meeting the changing trends in our profession. At the regional and international levels, there have been several collaborations with key stakeholders to put the Association in the limelight. Ensuring associations stand the test of time are no mean achievement. There are stormy occasions that need to be crossed from time to time. However, determination is the key to realise the overall objectives of an association.

Libraries are pivots around which our communities and culture evolve. Libraries are cornerstones and attempts must always be instituted in ensuring that our centres become a haven to the users that we serve.

I will entreat all non-members to come on board. To existing members, please continue to be a pillar behind this noble association. All members should avail themselves both at the regional and national levels and take up roles that will promote the objectives of GLA. Council is ever ready to listen to all and also serve this noble Association. Thank you.
